The Greater Scranton Chamber of Commerce and MetroAction announced the winners of the 2013 SAGE Awards (Scranton Awards for Growth and Excellence) at the Chamber Gala on Monday, November 11, 2013. The SAGE Awards celebrate the outstanding efforts of the local business community. Award finalists and winners were chosen from more than 115 applications submitted by businesses across northeastern Pennsylvania. More than 500 guests attended The Chamber’s premier event, which was held at The Theater at Lackawanna College.

All of the awards, with the exception of the People’s Choice Award, were judged by individual judging committees comprised of 47 volunteer judges. Each judge independently scored the applications using a point system and award winners were selected.
The People’s Choice Award recipient was selected through an online popular vote. All SAGE Award finalists from the 18 award categories were included in the People’s Choice Award voting. More than 8,000 votes were cast during this one-week voting contest.

“Business success demands such focus and dedication to the tasks at hand that we often forget to stop and celebrate our accomplishments. The SAGE Awards honor local businesses and organizations who are pushing our economy forward through innovation, creativity, and hard work. We see this program and The Chamber Gala as a chance to take stock, and celebrate the efforts and impact of these and all local businesses and community leaders,” said Robert F. Durkin, President of The Greater Scranton Chamber of Commerce.
