Students in Pennsylvania College of Technology’s graphic design program were recently honored for their work in two competitions: the American Graphic Design & Advertising Awards and the American Advertising Federation of Northeast Pennsylvania ADDY awards.
Both competitions recognize excellence in design by professionals and students.
In the AGDA competition, Laurea A. Lapp, a senior from Muncy, won an Award of Distinction for her “Cold Comfort Creamery” ice cream packaging and was a finalist for the “Best of Category” award for her “Guide Dogs of America” annual report.
Brittany L. Mase, a senior from Liberty, won an Award of Distinction for her “Big City Mountaineers” annual report, and Carol Vargas, a junior from Norristown, won an Award of Distinction for her “Chicago Firehouse Restaurant” logo.
All winning work will be featured in a full-color, hardcover book. An online version of the publication will be posted.
Additionally, Nicholas L. Stephenson, instructor of graphic design, received an Award of Distinction in the professionals publication-design category for a magazine feature he designed titled “EcoLogic.”
Penn College students also won six of 10 awards presented at this year’s American Advertising Federation of Northeast Pennsylvania Student ADDYs.
Junior Erin M. Schlesinger, of Lock Haven, won a gold ADDY and the Best of Show prize for her “Cocktails & Croquet” event invitation. She also took home a silver ADDY and the Judges’ Choice prize for her “FreeRice.com” ad campaign.
